Is this that one game from way back when on GJ?
Yes. XD We decided to tweak it a little and bring it back.
Are you saying your game is real celebrities with super powers?
Noooo. No. This is a game of original characters, not actual celebrities - they're all made up by you.
How do strikethrough's work in this game?
They're what your character is saying without saying it. We generally say that its the stuff they've typed out and deleted in posts or comments.
How do journal entries work?
Everyone's journals are all hooked up together through a closed circuit, so feel free to reply to whoever you wish.
How does my character say something private in comments on a journal entry?
That would be the standard '[locked to friends]' parenthesis/brackets, and the same with anything you want to put in the comments.
Where is Boom Town?
Boom Town is a city in the eastern time zone of the United States, located in New York.
Is it a major city renamed?
No! This city is made from scratch and we're hoping our players will help to make it bigger and more plentiful as we go. This is not required of our players, just to say, but sometimes the places given just aren't what they want. Sometimes making up a new jazz club is necessary.
Is the game set in only Boom Town?
The core of the game is in Boom Town, but with easy transportation to any city in the world via The Doors at the Hero Complex and The Villa, your characters can go wherever they like to either reek havoc on or save the unwashed masses.
How does time move in the game?
Real time, my friend. Every day is a day, but feel free to backdate if need be.
Are there physical limits to abilities?
Yes, but not too restrictive; we're counting on our player base to be mature about how they play out that kind of thing. Power fights are no fun when people aren't given a run for their money.
May I have a character with more than one ability?
Yes! But the limit is currently set at two, but this is subject to change depending on the power. Say you have a character who can control plants and make them grow and have them attack people and whatnot, that's more powers than usually allowed, but we usually trust our players not to take advantage, so circumstances given, we will allow more than two.
May I have a character with no abilities?
Now, this one's a little tricky. There are a great number of superheroes who don't have any abilities whatsoever outside of what they trained for in human capacity (Batman! and how much do we love Batman?), so if you want your character to be a normal human being with ninja skills and a supersuit, that's cool!
May I have the same power as someone else in the game?
Yes, but at the moment we are limiting this to only so many characters with the same power. Capped powers will be at the discretion of the mods. See Capped Powers below.
Are there any abilities that my character may not have?
There are a few, but the problem is that sometimes players really really want these powers, and they know how to limit themselves to where they're not too powerful for the game. So, we're going to say these are mostly off-limits unless someone comes to us and pleads their case.:

Omnipotence
Omnipresence
Omniscience
Power Absorption
Vampires, werewolves, and basically anything involving Occultish type stuff.
Capped Powers:
Healing factor or any variant of
Innate capability or any variant of
Eidetic memory

Pheromone manipulation
Psychometry
Precognition
Probability manipulation or any variant of
Reality manipulation or any variant of

Are there PB's I'm not allowed to use?
We don't accept MySpace people, originals, strictly comic book art or porn stars - but even porn stars are alright if you just please keep the nekkid icons to a bare minimum. Some people really don't want to see that. XD
Are duplicate PB's allowed?
Only for twins, and those are capped.
How many characters am I allowed to have?
Rule number thirteen! Ten.
Does my character have to be a celebrity? Do they have to be famous?
Most superheroes/villains are celebrities in some way for simply being who they are, but it will be up to you on the decision of exactly how popular they are; they don't all have to have fans screaming at them and ripping their clothes and whatnot.
Are all characters in the game professional superheroes?
No ma'am. Some of them use their ability for their art, or others are part-time superheroes and they have another full-time profession.
Are we allowed to smut in this game?
Yes. Go wild, do whatever you want, but as stated in the rules, you must friend-lock it and clearly mark the thread/log as such. Any character under the age of sixteen is not allowed to participate in sexual threads of any kind. The LJ scare several months ago still has us a little on edge.
What say the mods to rape or murder?
Though we may not agree with rape, we're going to look the other way if you want to include it in your plotline but you MUST have consent from the other player to do this! The same with the death of another character, that's sort of a big deal. We'll probably want to know why, the fretty mods that we are, as we enjoy our playerbase and we don't want anyone leaving us. XD
What about marriage or pregnancy?
Marriage is fantastic, mostly because the mods love weddings. ;D If your characters meet and they fall in love and they want to get hitched in Vegas? Do it. Pregnancies should last the full term, and must be approved by both players. We know waiting that long is a pain, but if your character really wants that baby, she'll be okay.
What about plots that will effect the entire board?
You have to ask a mod about big stuff like that, but generally we like to promote that kind of thinking. Don't be afraid to think gamewide thoughts! Everyone has great ideas so let us know if something comes to mind.
